This video replays actual footage of sonar sound from an offshore US Navy vessel. The sound was recorded in Washington state, May 2003. What you are hearing would be amplified 70 to 90 times in the water, which is what an animal submerged in water would hear. The intensity of this sound in the water is what causes ruptures in the internal organs of whales, dolphins and other cetaceans seriously injuring or killing them. It could also cause this serious injury or death to a human who might be in the water at the same time.
